Easter Pitcorthie Standing Stone

A fine standing stone located 350m (383 yards) west of Easter Pitcorthie farm (E Fife), 1¼ miles (2 km) east of Colinsburgh. Composed of red sandstone, the monument stands 2.4m (8 feet) in height and is decorated with 33 cup-markings and two dumb-bell shaped motifs. During the 19th Century cremated bones were discovered at the base of the stone, which dates from the 2nd millennium BC.
