HM Prison Kilmarnock

Opened in 1999, HM Prison Kilmarnock was built on the site of a former munitions depot in the southeast of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire. It was the first in Scotland built under the Private Finance Initiative, whereby government employs private sector contractors to build and run a public facility. This Category B prison accommodates up to 500 adult male prisoners.
