Coulter Motte Hill

Located 2 miles (3 km) north of the settlement of Coulter in South Lanarkshire, the Coulter Motte Hill is the site of an early mediaeval castle mound which dated from the 11th Century. An example of a Norman castle mound it would have been surrounded by a moat and have a timber tower. It is now under the ownership of Historic Environment Scotland.
