Situated on a hill overlooking the Urr estuary in Dumfries and Galloway, the Mote of Mark is a hill-fort dating from the 5th Century AD. It takes its name from Mark, King of Dumnonia, who features in the tragic story of Tristan and Isolde. It lies 5 miles (8 km) south of Dalbeattie.
