A small reservoir situated in the Moffat Hills of North Lanarkshire, the Lilly loch lies a half-mile (1 km) south of Caldercruix. The reservoir was created in 1836 by increasing the size of an existing loch and now extends to 20 ha (49 acres). Operating in conjunction with the larger Hillend Reservoir, located a half-mile (0.8 km) to the northeast, it supplied water to the Monkland Canal and Forth & Clyde Canal via the North Calder Water and the Monkland Canal. Ownership passed to the Caledonian Railway Company, then the London Midland Scottish Railway, British Waterways and then Scottish Canals. It now supports a recreational fishery managed by the Clarkston Angling Club.
