An important building prominently located overlooking New Street in Scalloway (Shetland), the Old Haa is A-listed and represents the oldest building in the village next to Scalloway Castle. The former Laird's house, it comprises three storeys and five bays. It features a pink render, small windows and an extensive grey slate roof. Above the fine moulded doorway is an armorial panel which commemorates the marriage in 1750 of James Scott to Katherine Sinclair, heiress of estates in Scalloway and Houss.
Placed on the Buildings-at-Risk Register in 1990, the Haa remained derelict through the 1990s as a legal dispute delayed plans to refurbish the building and convert it into flats. The building was acquired by Scalloway Waterfront Trust in 2001 and an external restoration was eventually completed in 2003 with the building stabilised. The interior has been partially completed with much of the original structure remaining behind the plasterboard. The building remains unoccupied (2012).
