Hawkhead Railway Station

(Ceann an Dail)

A halt on the Paisley Canal Street branch of a railway which emanates from Central Station in Glasgow, Hawkhead Station (Gael: Ceann an Dail) first opened in 1894 and operated until 1966. It was rebuilt as a modern unmanned shelter in 1991, the line having re-opened the previous year. Operated by ScotRail, it was used by around 150,000 commuters per annum (2010), a number which had grown to more than 200,000 passenger by 2016. It is preceded by Crookston Railway Station, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the east, and followed by Paisley Canal Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the west.
