Helensburgh No.1 Reservoir

One of three small reservoirs in Argyll and Bute which supply Helensburgh with drinking water, Helensburgh No.1 Reservoir is located closest to the town, on the steep slope a mile (1.7 km) north northeast of the centre. Impounded by an earth embankment dam, which was built c.1868 the reservoir has an area of 4 ha (10 acres) and is operated by Scottish Water. A recreational fishery for brown trout managed by Helensburgh Angling Club.
