Knowesdean Reservoir

A tiny reservoir retained an earth embankment dam in the Scottish Borders, Knowesdean (or Knowes Dean) Reservoir is located on the northern flank of Knowes Hill 2 miles (3 km) north northwest of Clovenfords and 3 miles (5 km) west northwest of Galashiels. Built c.1879 as part of a scheme to bring water to Galashiels, it is now operated by Scottish Water. Water is diverted from the Caddon Water. The reservoir supports a recreational fishery for brown and rainbow trout managed by Greenlaw Angling Club.
