Glenfarg Reservoir

Glenfarg Reservoir is situated at an altitude of 180m (590 feet), 1½ miles (2.5 km) west northwest of the village of Glenfarg in Perth and Kinross and 5 miles (8 km) north of Kinross. Opened in 1926 for the supply of drinking-water and retained by an earth embankment dam, the reservoir is now operated by Scottish Water. It covers an area of 41.2 ha (101 acres), has a maximum depth of 17m (55 feet) and is supplied by pipeline from the Water of May, together with nearby streams which fall directly into the reservoir. It contains a small island and is the source of the River Farg. A screen of woodland surrounds much of the reservoir, which is a popular venue for recreational fishing, stocked with brown trout.
