Irvine Bogside Golf Course

(The Irvine Golf Club)

The home of the Irvine Golf Club is located at Bogside, a mile (1.5 km) northwest of the town centre. This fine links course was developed from the time the club was founded in 1887, but re-designed by James Braid in 1926. It is 6415 yards in length and had a par of 71. Irvine Bogside is used by the R&A as a Final Qualifying Course when the Open Championship is held at Royal Troon or Trump Turnberry. Three Scottish Amateur Champions, who were all raised in the neighbouring settlement of Bartonholm, honed their skills at Irvine Golf Club; namely Hamilton 'Hammy' McInally, Jimmy Walker and Jack Cannon.
