Logie Kirk

(Logie Cemetery)

Nestling at the foot of the Ochil Hills, between the campus of the University of Stirling and the hamlet of Blairlogie, Logie Kirk is the parish church for Causewayhead, Cambuskenneth and parts of Bridge of Allan. The church was built in 1805 on land gifted by Sir Robert Abercromby (1740 - 1827) of Airthrey Castle, replacing an earlier church, dating from the 14th C., the remains of which lie a short distance to the northwest. The present building features a square tower surmounted by an octagonal belfry, together with fine stained glass. It was modified and extended 1899-1901. Inside are fourteen oak panels, depicting scenes from the Bible, enclosing the chancel and pulpit.

The kirk is now surrounded by a large cemetery which has been multiply extended over the years. This is the last resting place of Frederick Pullar (1875 - 1901) and his father Laurence Pullar (1837 - 1926) who were both involved in the bathymetric survey of Scottish lochs with Sir John Murray (1841 - 1914).
