Ardrossan South Beach Railway Station


(Tràigh a Deas Àird Rosain)

One of three railway stations in Ardrossan (North Ayrshire), South Beach Station (Gael: Tràigh a Deas Àird Rosain) is situated on the Ayrshire Coast Line, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) east of the town centre and Ardrossan Town station. This station was opened in 1883 on the Glasgow & South Western Railway at the time this line was being extended to Largs. It is preceded by West Kilbride Railway Station, 4½ miles (7 km) north northwest, and followed by Saltcoats Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the southeast, while also providing services on the branch to Ardrossan Town and Ardrossan Harbour. Operated by ScotRail, Ardrossan South Beach Railway Station is staffed part-time and is used by 216,000 passengers per annum (2009-10). There is a small car park.
