Busby Railway Station

(Busbaidh)

Busby Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Busbaidh) lies on the East Kilbride branch of the Glasgow South Western Line, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) east of the town centre and a half-mile (1 km) southeast of Sheddens in East Renfrewshire. This station opened in 1866 on the former Busby Railway. Now operated by ScotRail, Busby Station is unstaffed and is used by more than 160,000 passengers annually (2016). It comprises two platforms, but the line reduces to a single-track a short distance to the south and continues in that configuration to the terminus at East Kilbride. It is preceded by Thorntonhall Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the south southeast, and followed by Clarkston, a similar distance to the northwest.
