Dumbreck Railway Station

(An Dùn Breac)

Dumbreck Railway Station (referred to as An Dùn Breac in Gaelic) is situated on the Paisley Canal Line, between the suburbs of Dumbreck and Pollokshields in Glasgow City, a half-mile (0.8 km) southwest of Shields Junction. The M77 Motorway lies immediately to the east. It opened in 1990 coinciding with the restoration of passenger services on the Paisley Canal Line, replacing the former Bellahouston Station, which was in use between 1885 and 1954 and located a quarter-mile (0.4 km) to the northeast. Dumbreck Station comprises two platforms on a double-track section of this line. It is operated by ScotRail and is unstaffed. Passenger numbers have grown steadily from 111,450 per annum in 2009-10 to 164,000 in 2015-16. It is preceded by Glasgow Central, 2 miles (3 km) to the east northeast, and followed by Corkerhill Railway Station, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the west southwest.
