Helmsdale Railway Station

Helmsdale Railway Station (Gael: Bun Ilidh) is located on the Far North Line, at West Helmsdale, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west northwest of Helmsdale and 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Portgower in Highland. This station opened in 1873 on the Dingwall & Skye Railway, and the buildings were designed by the architect William Fowler (1824 - 1906). Operated by ScotRail, Helmsdale Railway Station is unstaffed and was used by only 5680 passengers in 2009-10. It is preceded by Brora Railway Station, 10 miles (16 km) to the southwest, and followed by Kildonan, 8½ miles (14 km) to the west northwest.
