A remote and isolated request stop in Sutherland, Kildonan Railway Station (Gael: Cill Donnain) lies on the Far North Line, 5 miles (8 km) west northwest of Torrish and 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Portgower in Highland. This station opened in 1874 on the Sutherland & Caithness Railway. Now operated by ScotRail, Kildonan Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by only 204 passengers in 2009-10. It is preceded by Helmsdale Railway Station, 8½ miles (14 km) to the east southeast, and followed by Kinbrace, 7 miles (11 km) to the north northwest.
