South Gyle Railway Station


(Gyle a Deas)

A suburban railway halt within the City of Edinburgh, South Gyle Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Gyle a Deas) is situated a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Corstorphine and a similar distance north northwest of Sighthill. Opened in 1985, it lies on the East Coast Main Line but is used only by local services heading for the Fife Circle Line. Operated by ScotRail, South Gyle Station is unstaffed and comprises two platforms, with utilitarian passengers shelters on each. It is used by around 580,000 passengers per annum (2016). South Gyle is preceded by Haymarket Railway Station, 3 miles (5 km) to the east, and followed by Dalmeny, 5 miles (8 km) to the northwest.
