West Calder Railway Station (referred to as Caladar an Iar in Gaelic) is situated on the Shotts Line, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) north northeast of the centre of West Calder and a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Polbeth in West Lothian. This station was opened by the Caledonian Railway in 1869 and is now operated by ScotRail. The station comprises traditional slate-roofed buildings and two platforms linked by a pedestrian overbridge. West Calder Railway Station is unstaffed and was used by 132,234 passengers in 2016-17, a notable increase from 97,396 users in 2009-10. It is preceded by Livingston South Railway Station, 2¾ miles (4.5 km) to the east northeast, and followed by Addiewell, 1½ miles (2.5 km) to the west southwest.
