A graceful shallow-arched bridge built of red sandstone rubble, the Lamington Bridge carries the B7055 road across the River Clyde ¾ mile (1.2 km) southwest of Lamington. The bridge was built in 1835-6 to link the Lanark Road on the west bank of the river with the Old Edinburgh Road on the east following an incident whereby four people were swept away whilst trying to cross the river in a flood in 1830. The bridge comprises two spans, each extending to 16.2m (53 feet), and the sandstone was sourced from nearby Roberton quarry. The structure has been B-listed since 2010.
