An unusual small church in the hamlet of Insh in Badenoch, Insh Village Church was established following the Disruption of 1843 when members of Insh Parish Church left the form a Free Church. At first they worshipped in the open air but eventually the local land owner built them a small church with a tin roof in the style of a cottage. This is known locally as the Mission Church. The tin roof was replaced with tiles and a ship’s bell is installed in a simple bellcote on the west gable. There is a mosaic window made by school children in the wall facing the road, and the village war memorial is located within the grounds. The church is still used for a monthly service, although the building is being developed as a place of prayer and pilgrimage.
