Irvine War Memorial

Irvine War Memorial is located on the High Street, in front of Irvine Townhouse. Constructed in the style of a mercat cross, it dates from 1920 and comprises an octagonal base with inscribed bronze panels on each face naming those who gave their lives in the First World War. A shaft rises to support a heraldic sitting lion, with crown and shield below, which appear in the town's arms. This replaced the Irvine's former mercat cross which stood nearby but was removed c. 1694. Behind is a three-part screen wall which records the dead of the Second World War.

The war memorial was B-listed in 1997.
