Neil Munro Monument

Comprising a square cairn to the east of the summit of Creag Dhubh on the west side of Glen Aray, the Neil Munro Monument is situated above the A819 road, 2 miles (3 km) south of Cladich in Argyll and Bute. It was erected in June 1935 to commemorate Neil Munro (1863 - 1930), the author of the Para Handy stories, who was born 6 miles (10 km) to the south at Inveraray. His mother is said to have come from a farm near the monument and Munro spent time here as a child.
