Southerness Golf Club & the Scottish Amateur Championship (2005)

A links golf course located behind the hamlet of Southerness on the northern shore of the Solway Firth, 13 miles (22 km) south of Dumfries. Designed and laid out in 1947 by the notable course designer Philip Mackenzie Ross (1890 - 1974), it measures 6566 yards (6003 m) and is par 69 (SSS 73). Championship tees provide a length of 6728 yards (6152 m), also par 69 (SSS 74). The course has hosted several competitions, including the Scottish Amateur Championship, the Scottish Ladies Championship and the British Ladies Championship. The clubhouse was built in 1975 and extended in 1999.
