Bass Rock Lighthouse

Located on the southern slopes of the Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth, the Bass Rock Lighthouse is a 20m (82-foot) white tower, which was completed in 1903 by engineering brothers David A. (1854 - 1938) and Charles Alexander Stevenson (1855 - 1950). The light has a range of 10 miles (16 km). It was automated in 1988, at which time it was converted from paraffin to electric illumination. The light is now remotely monitored from the Northern Lighthouse Board Headquarters in Edinburgh.
