Parish of Kilninver and Kilmelfort

Kilninver and Kilmelfort is a coastal parish, which lies in Argyll and Bute Council Area, some 8 miles (12 km) south of Oban and 18 miles (29 km) north of Lochgilphead in Argyll and Bute.

It is located in the old county of Argyllshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 133.3 sq. km (51.4 sq. miles). Kilninver and Kilmelfort has 6 neighbouring parishes; namely Craignish, Kilbrandon & Kilchattan, Kilbrandon & Kilchattan, Kilchrenan & Dalavich, Kilmartin and Kilmore & Kilbride. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
