Parish of Peebles

Peebles is a parish, which lies in the Scottish Borders Council Area, some 13 miles (21 km) south of Penicuik and 16 miles (26 km) south of Bonnyrigg in Midlothian.

It is located in the old county of Peeblesshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 67.4 sq. km (26 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Peebles. Peebles has 7 neighbouring parishes; namely Eddleston, Innerleithen, Lyne, Manor, Stobo, Traquair and Yarrow. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
