Perhaps Scotland's most successful football player. Born in Glasgow, Dalglish joined Jock Stein's Celtic team in 1967, moving to the English team Liverpool in 1977 for a record transfer fee at the time (£440,000). He won the League and European Cups on several occasions and became a successful manager. He was the first player to score more than 100 league goals in both Scotland and England.
One of Scotland's greatest internationalists, he played in two successive World Cup competitions, was capped 102 times (a Scottish record) and scored 30 international goals.
He went on to manage Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and finally his old team, Celtic, winning a total of four championships as a manager. Dalglish was inducted as one of the first members of the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame in 2002 and knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for 2018.
