William (Willie) Miller

1955 -

Footballer. Miller was born in Glasgow. He began his professional football career at sixteen, when he signed for Aberdeen (1971). By 1975 he was Captain of that Club, a hard tackling defender who led from the back, under the inspired managership of Alex Ferguson (b.1941). The following year Miller was named 'Player of the Year'.

Miller retired due to injury in 1990, having made a record 556 appearances for Aberdeen and 65 caps for Scotland. He continued with Aberdeen as Manager (1992-95) and now works in the media.
