Author, born in Edinburgh. His father was Sheriff-Substitute at Loch Fyne. Tragedy struck when Grahame's mother died of scarlet fever, when he was only five. Grahame and his siblings were sent to England, where he eventually became Secretary to the Bank of England (1898 - 1907). His best known work is "The Wind in the Willows", which was written to entertain his son. The book was later dramatised by A.A. Milne as "Toad of Toad Hall".
