Singer. Born in Glasgow, Spiteri was brought up in Balloch (West Dunbartonshire) and began her career as a hairdresser. However, she was recruited by Johnny McElhone (b.1963) for a new rock band Texas, which formed in Glasgow in 1986, and she became its lead-singer and song-writer. The band went on to great success and their albums include Southside (1989), Mother's Heaven (1991), Rick's Road (1993), White on Blonde (1997), The Hush (1999) and their Greatest Hits has sold more than 15 million copies.
Spiteri is known for her intelligent and uncomplicated personality, together with her enthusiasm for live performance.
