Artist. Born in Stonehaven, Boyd trained at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen (1958-62), under the tutelage of Robert Henderson Blyth (1919-70), and briefly at Hospitalfield House (Arbroath), where he became friendly with Alexander Fraser (b.1940). He is noted for his strongly coloured landscapes and still-lifes, with his best work being produced in the last few years of his life. His work, which was principally in oil, includes The Harvester, The Boat House and Still Life with Fish Box.
