Helena McEwen


1961 -

Author and painter. Born in Scotland, McEwen studied painting at Camberwell and Chelsea Art Schools in London, mounting several exhibitions of her work, and continues to live in the city. The grand-daughter of politician Sir John McEwen (1893 - 1962), she described her upbringing in Marchmont House in the Scottish Borders in her novel The Big House (1999). Subsequent novels have included Ghost Girl (2004).
