Weather forecaster. Born Gail Pirie in Dingwall, McGrane was educated at Dingwall Academy and the Universities of Strathclyde and Iowa (USA). She began her career with the Meteorological Office in 1999, training in Reading and with the BBC in London, before joining BBC Scotland where she regularly presents the television weather forecast.
