Cricketer. Born and brought up in Aberdeen, Chisholm came to prominence in the late 1940s playing for Aberdeenshire. When he moved to Edinburgh to pursue his career as French teacher with Stewart's Melville College, he joined their former pupil's team. In total, he amassed almost 16,000 runs at club level.
Between 1948 and 1971, he played on a record 80 occasions for Scotland, scoring 3175 runs and gaining a reputation as the nation's greatest batsmen. Also a useful leg-spin bowler, he took 44 wickets for his country.
Chisholm died in Edinburgh.
