Lynsey Sharp


1990 -

Athlete. Born in Dumfries and raised in Lochmaben and Edinburgh, Sharp was the daughter of Cameron Sharp (b.1958) a successful athlete who was left disabled following a car accident. She was educated at Mary Erskine's School and studied law at Edinburgh Napier University. Competing in the 800m, she gained a gold medal in the 2012 European Championships in Helsinki, followed by silver medals in 2014 European Championships in Zurich and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the same year. The latter were despite a dangerously infected wound in her leg which had prevented competition in 2013. She was named Scottish Athlete of the Year in 2011 and 2012.
