John Maclauchlan Milne


1886 - 1957

Artist. Born in Edinburgh, the son of landscape painter Joseph Milne, he lived in Kingoodie, on the north shore of the Firth of Tay, before joining the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. He returned briefly to Dundee before moving to France where he married. The Dundee marmalade manufacturer, Keiller, became his patrons. He returned to Scotland at the beginning of the Second World War and settled at High Corrie in Arran. His works are held by several public institutions, including the National Gallery of Scotland, Gracefield Arts Centre (Dumfries), the Hunterian Art Gallery, the McLean Museum and Art Gallery in Greenock, Paisley Museum and Art Galleries and the Isle of Arran Heritage Museum.
