Moray Callum


1958 -

Car designer. Callum was born in Dumfries, the son of a local solicitor. He was educated at Dumfries Academy and Napier University in Edinburgh, where he changed direction from architecture to industrial design. He went on to study automotive design at the Royal College of Art in London. Callum joined Chrysler as a car designer in 1982, moving to PSA Peugeot Citro├źn in Poissy (France) and then the Ford-owned Italian design house Ghia in 1988. He moved to the USA with Ford in 1995 and in 2001 was appointed to lead the design team with Ford's then partner, the Japanese vehicle manufacturer Mazda, overseeing the rejuvenation of their sports models, including the iconic MX-5. He returned to Ford in 2006 to head their Americas car and truck design team and rose to become Vice President (Design) in 2014. Callum was responsible for the sixth generation of the Ford Mustang (2015) and the second generation Ford GT (2017). He is the younger brother of another successful car designer, Ian Callum (b. 1954).
