Sculptor. Born in St. Combs (Aberdeenshire), Bruce struggled at school due to dyslexia. He undertook a number of jobs in NE Scotland before settling with his family in Aviemore in the 1960s, where Bruce and his wife ran a bed and breakfast business. His love of the natural environment and natural materials led him to become a self-taught sculptor. Always working outside the commercial arts scene, he collaborated with Banff District Council to establish a sculpture garden at Colleonard, a mile (1 km) southwest of Banff town centre. Since most of his pieces used fallen timber from the Rothiemurchus and Inshriach forests, he moved his work to establish the Frank Bruce Sculpture Trail at Feshiebridge in 2007, where he intended much of the wood would eventually rot and return to nature. He died in Inverness.
