Regent George Skene


1666 - 1708

Regent of King's College Aberdeen. Skene was the grand-nephew of Sir George Skene (1619 - 1707), who had been Provost of Aberdeen. He was appointed Professor of Philosophy at King's College (University of Aberdeen) at the age of just 20. He married his cousin, Catherine Aedie, at St. Machar's Cathedral. Skene inherited his great uncle's estates a year before his death. He lies buried in the kirkyard of St. Nicholas' Church.
