Annette Crosbie


1934 -

Stage, television and screen actress. Born in Gorebridge, Midlothian, and educated at Boroughmuir High School in Edinburgh, Crosbie is perhaps best known in the role of Margaret Meldrew, the long suffering wife of Victor, played by fellow Scot Richard Wilson, in the BBC-TV comedy One Foot in the Grave (from 1990). She has also appeared in many period dramas for television including The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1971), Edward The Seventh (1975), as the housekeeper, Janet, in an updated version of Doctor Finlay's Casebook (1993) and Oliver Twist (1999). Film roles have included Nervous Energy (1995), Shooting Fish (1997) and The Debt Collector (1999).

Crosbie was awarded an OBE in 1998.
