William Wallace

Mason and architect. Living in Musselburgh, Wallace was appointed as Master Mason to King James VI (1566 - 1625). He worked on the refurbishment of Edinburgh Castle, including the King's Lodging, prior to James' visit to Edinburgh in 1617. He also restored the North Range of Linlithgow Palace (1618), worked on Stirling Castle, Winton House (1619) and George Heriot's Hospital (1628).
