Gregor Fisher


1953 -

Actor. Born in Glasgow and, following the death of his parents, brought up in Edinburgh and Langholm. He entered the Royal School of Music and Drama in Glasgow, but left before completing his studies. His first acting break came in the Dundee Repertory Theatre. Fisher's repertoire ranges from pantomime to the classical theatre, but he is best known for his portrayal of Rab C. Nesbitt, the string-vested Glaswegian philosopher in the television comedy series of the same name, playing opposite Elaine C. Smith (b.1958). Other television work includes The Tales of Para Handy (1994) with Rikki Fulton (b.1924) with whom Fisher starred in various of the Scotch and Wry series, The Baldy Man (1995) and the television remake of The Railway Children (2000). Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984) and White Mischief (1987) are amongst his films.
