Pentathlete. Born in Irvine, Cook read medicine at Oxford University and practises in Bath (England).
She won a gold medal in the Sydney 2000 Olympics in the women's modern pentathlon, the first time the event was included in the games. Her particular strength is in running.
She was awarded an OBE in the 2001 New Year Honours.
