30 May 2006:
The Black Watch Memorial was raised to the memory of the men of the 4/5th Bn who were raised from Dundee AND ANGUS. This is why it was erected on the boundary between Angus and Dundee.
In its original location, about 500yds further east on the bend of the old Forfar Road, it faced more to the south west so that it overlooked Dundee and Angus.
When the new dual carriageway was built it was moved so that it could be seen from the new road.
It is now maintained by the Black Watch Regimental Headquarters at Balhousie castle in Perth.
- John Barton, Dundee, Scotland
