30 June 2004:
As at 7/04 the only remaining completely unaltered hospital building is the old morgue and that is shortly due for demolition. The whole complex was bought by one man in 1993 and a major demolition programme undertaken leaving just three private dwellings. Central is the main hospital building, largely unaltered. To one side is the old Matron's cottage, extended and block clad, behind which is the ambulance shed which is now a garage/workshop. To the other side a much altered ward building remains.
I would greatly appreciate receipt of e-mailed photographs of the old hospital as it was. I know that in its last years it was a geriatric care home and that all who remember it speak of it as having a lovely and caring atmosphere, but anecdote of days as a TB hospital are not so easy to come by.
