26 December 2001:
I have recently a short (8,000 words) but detailed history of the Tay Bridge disaster. Poor old Thomas Bouch the designer was totally blamed for the accident which I am convinced was very unfair as there were others who were totally incompetant.
Incidently the locomotive, No 224, was recovered from the riverbed, rebuilt and was not finally scrapped until 1919.
I hope that this information is of use. - adamwilkins1@aol.com
