One of two adjacent farms in Strath Fillan which form the SRUC Hill & Mountain Research Centre, Kirkton lies a half-mile (0.8 km) southeast of Auchtertyre Farm and 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Crianlarich. The research centre offices are located here, while the remains of St. Fillan's Priory and its old graveyard lie nearby.
