Woodhaven

Fife

A settlement forming part of the Newport-on-Tay urban area on the Firth of Tay in NE Fife. It lies between Wormit and Newport and was for many centuries the leading ferry port on the south side of the River Tay. It later became the northern terminus for the coaching route across Fife to the ferry port of Pettycur on the Firth of Forth. During World War II, Woodhaven was a base for Royal Air Force flying boats, with Norwegian airmen undertaking operations against German U-boats.
