A village of North Lanarkshire, Caldercruix is located on the North Calder Water, 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Plains and 4 miles (7 km) northeast of Airdrie. Taking its name from the 'crooks' or windings on the river, Caldercruix developed in the 19th century in association with mining and paper making.
